Martin Haake was born in Oldenburg, Germany. He has worked as a freelance illustrator for over 15 years. His clients include Barnes & Noble, The New York Times, Penguin Books, Bacardi, Yahoo, playboy and Vanity Fair. After spending some years in London he is now  back in Germany, living and working in Berlin.He received numerous international awards, among others,  "The yellow pencil of the British Art Director's Club", D&AD, and two silver awards from the German Art Director's Club.
Martin's work is influenced by the surrealists and DADA artists as well as children's book illustrations of the 1950's. His first picture book "City Atlas“ has been translated in 15 languages.
